Janet is recognised internationally for research on the neural regulation of urogenital organs, with intersecting research on the neurobiology of pain. Janet graduated with a BSc Hons (Reproductive Endocrinology) from the University of Adelaide and a PhD from Flinders University (focused on enteric nervous system). After postdoctoral training with Dr William de Groat (University of Pittsburgh), she held a teaching and research position at the University of Queensland. Further roles include Director of Basic Research (Pain Management Research Institute, University of Sydney), Head of Department (University of Melbourne), President (International Society for Autonomic Neuroscience) and President (Australasian Neuroscience Society).
