  • This delegate is presenting an abstract at this event.
Jedrzej Kukulowicz is a Ph.D. student at the Department of Physicochemical Drug Analysis, Faculty of Pharmacy, Jagiellonian University Medical College, Krakow, Poland. He is conducting studies on neutral amino acid transporters of the SLC6 family under the supervision of Prof. Marek Bajda, an expert in the field of computer-aided drug discovery. For the last four years, Jedrzej Kukulowicz has been studying their relevance, transport mechanism and inhibition using computational approaches, i.e. docking and more sophisticated methods such as MD simulations and free energy calculations. The research inspired by him and his supervisor led to the discovery of the first non-substrate inhibitors against SLC6A20 and SLC6A15 transporters. At the end of November 2024, he completed a three-month internship at the University of Aarhus in the group of Poul Nissen, where he obtained the cryo-EM structure of the neutral amino acid transporter SLC6A19 complexed with the ACE2 complex with a high resolution of 3.10 Å. His scientific interests are drug discovery and methods applicable to the investigation of the physiology and pharmacology of selected molecular targets within the framework of medicinal chemistry.
