Dr Joensuu is a recently appointed Group Leader at The Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology and Queensland Brain institute, The University of Queensland. She obtained her PhD in Biochemistry from The University of Helsinki, Finland in 2014. Dr. Joensuu's laboratory's current research focuses on cellular membrane trafficking in health and disease using advanced imaging techniques including electron microscopy and super-resolution imaging. She was a recipient of ARC DECRA Fellowship in 2019, aiming to reveal a novel role for saturated fatty acids in learning and memory, and is currently appointed as a UQ Amplify Fellow.
