Alicia Brunet is a third year PhD candidate supervised by Dr Livia Carvalho in the Retinal Genomics and Therapy lab at the Lions Eye Institute. Miss Brunet finished her Bachelor’s degree with a double major in Neuroscience and Genetics at The University of Western Australia in 2018. She completed her Honours degree before continuing on with her PhD researching cell death mechanisms in inherited retinal diseases. Miss Brunet is involved in identifying the underlying mechanisms of cone degeneration in different inherited retinal diseases and the development of a common treatment to restore vision loss independent of the disease-causing mutation.
