Pawat Laohamonthonkul
The Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health, VIC, Australia
- This delegate is presenting an abstract at this event.
Pawat is a PhD student in the Neuroinflammation Group led by Dr Chien-Hsiung (Alan) Yu at The Florey. Pawat’s research aims to dissect the pathomechanism of tau-mediated pathology in neurodegenerative diseases (e.g. Frontotemporal lobar degeneration and Alzheimer’s disease). He is especially interested in the molecular connections between inflammation and lipid dyshomeostasis in neurodegenerative diseases. Pawat completed his BSc (Hons) at the University of Queensland in 2018 where he examined humoral response during blood-stage malaria led by A/Prof Ashraful Haque at QMIR Berghofer. Pawat then joined Prof Seth Masters at WEHI in 2019 to further explore his interest in innate immunity where he examined familial mutations in a sensor of inflammasome called NLRP1.
