Aidan is a second-year molecular medicine PhD student with a background and passion for neuroscience, specialising in developing antisense oligonucleotide therapies for genetic-based diseases. He is conducting his research at the Centre for Molecular Medicine and Innovative Therapeutics (CMMIT) based at Murdoch University and has recently been awarded the Alan and Iris Peacocke Scholarship to support his research endeavours. Aidan is a highly motivated and driven scientist whose career aspirations revolve around continuous growth, innovation, and making a meaningful impact in his field. His overarching goal is to develop cutting-edge therapies that can significantly improve the quality of life for those with little to no treatment options. He began his research by focusing on developing a treatment for Down syndrome but has since expanded the scope of his project to include Alzheimer's Disease. Outside of the lab, Aidan is an active member of the Higher Degree by Research Committee, which includes PhD students from UWA, Curtin, and Murdoch University.
