Isabella is a PhD candidate dedicated to improving the lives of patients diagnosed with diseases that may be rare, but confer an enormous impact. Her research focuses on the neurodevelopmental disorder, Malan syndrome, of which she aims to unveil the complex underlying molecular mechanisms. Utilizing patient-derived induced pluripotent cell (iPSC) lines, she is generating neuronal models to investigate the impact of Malan syndrome on neurogenesis. Additionally, she is developing novel antisense oligonucleotides as a potential therapeutic for patients currently without an approved treatment. As a researcher in the Molecular Therapy Laboratory within the Centre for Molecular Medicine and Innovative Therapeutics, Isabella is committed to conducting high-quality research and contributing to advancements in this important field.
