I am a medical doctor specialized in public health from Sri Lanka, currently reading for PhD at Edith Cowan University. My personal interest in elderly care led me to choose a research project on Alzheimer's disease (AD), and I am conducting my research attached to Alzheimer's Research Australia (ARA). The project looks at the gut microbiota alteration seen in the spectrum of AD and its correlation to cognitive status. It also looks at the possible association of gut microbiota in favor of better cognition with a healthy lifestyle, particularly a healthy diet and physical activity. In the current abstract I have submitted, I am presenting data related to microbiota composition and AD risk factors.
